Welcome to Studio City

Ample vibrancy and California’s signature beauty coalesce in this hip enclave

No matter where you were raised or your age, chances are high you’ve heard of Studio City. The “Jewel of the Valley,” as it’s affectionately called, is home to the legendary CBS Studio Center and has served as the backdrop to everything from Entertainment Tonight to the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Electrifying and almost always-on, Studio City boasts a panoply of irresistible boutiques and trendy bars and restaurants, rendering it a top hotspot for people in Los Angeles, certainly, but also throughout the world.

And yet, the globally renowned city is about so much more than its film-centric reputation and lively venues. From high-end estates to glamorous condominiums, the city offers residents an array of superb real estate choices and a lifestyle that straddles the sweet spot between thrilling and peaceful – depending on the time of day, of course, and what pocket of the city you find yourself in. The gorgeous Santa Monica foothills frame it all, making every day in this sunny hamlet feel like a vacation. And yees, it’s as picturesque as a movie set.

What to Love

  • At once quaint and fashionable with a boatload of personality
  • Proximity to LA’s biggest studios
  • Near Hollywood, downtown LA, and the Westside
  • Upscale, luxurious, and prestigious
  • Small-town vibes in an exhilarating setting

Local Lifestyle

Studio City’s fabulous blend of old and new – to say nothing of its high-profile properties and topnotch, ultra-convenient location – makes it a leading choice for industry executives and their families, who are drawn to the region because it offers award-winning schools and a bounty of great outdoor recreation. (Top of the list: Hiking at Runyon Canyon Park.) And yet, it’s just as appealing to retirees who relish an active lifestyle and thriving singles, artists, and entrepreneurs who enjoy living in the heart of one of LA’s best and most entertaining nightlife.

Dining, Shopping & Entertainment

Studio City may have made a name for itself in the 1920s with the establishment of CBS Studio, but it’s now just as famous for its phenomenal restaurants. The Sushi by Jin may appear humble from the outside but don’t be fooled by its modest exterior: This is one of the top sushi spots in SoCal and beyond.

Vitello’s Restaurant is just as enticing, although in a completely different manner. This exceptional Italian eatery plates out sumptuous dishes in a hyper-cool setting. Come for their flatbread with prosciutto and spiced honey but stay for the live jazz in their velvet martini lounge.

Joan’s on Third is perpetually abuzz with a spirited crowd. For a good reason, too. Healthy, gourmet eats are the star of the show in this contemporary market. Stop in for a wholesome breakfast of avocado toast on sesame country bread, grab a grilled maple chicken sandwich for lunch, or pick up a Cobb salad to savor at home.

And when you have something spectacular to celebrate, book a reservation at the stunning Romanov Restaurant and Lounge, a grand eatery complete with gold-plated chandeliers. Romanov serves traditional Russian fare alongside outstanding live entertainment.

Things to Do

Residents of Studio City certainly aren’t at a loss for activities. No matter your hobbies, lifestyle, or preferences, you’re bound to find countless ways to relish your spare time. Take the Beeman Park Farmers’ Market, for one, a buoyant affair that positively explodes with fresh produce, flowers, and baked goods. Then there’s the acclaimed Studio City Film Festival, which, held at the CAP Studio on Ventura Boulevard, presents cutting-edge films.

Studio City is also near the legendary Universal Studios Hollywood. The enormous amusement park never ceases to amaze you regardless of how many times you visit. When the mood strikes to see world-class music in a riveting setting, you’ll also be near the famed Hollywood Bowl, an amphitheater that has seen everyone from the Beatles to The Doors.

Prefer to zen out instead? Fryman Canyon Park is Studio City’s verdant urban sanctuary and a top spot to take your pup for a walk or go for a hike. Studio City Recreation Center is perfect for kids and adults alike.

Schools

Studio City is home to, and near, a handful of remarkable schools, including:
