Welcome to Calabasas

Picturesque views and ample seclusion are found in this Southern California jewel

Calabasas has long enjoyed a radiant reputation as a lush hideaway for luminaries. Kim Kardashian, John Travolta, Will Smith, Jessica Simpson, and Drake are just a few of the celebrities who have homes in this prestigious area.

And who could blame them? Ideally located northwest of Los Angeles between the Santa Susana and Santa Monica mountains, this small, refined city – which was recently ranked one of the most affluent parts of California, even more so than Beverly Hills – offers a sublime climate, gorgeous homes on generous lots, and an abundance of peace and quiet.

And yet natural beauty and serene personality are only one part of its magic. Calabasas is a destination in and of itself, thanks to its superb shopping and array of splendid restaurants. An excellent school district and proximity to SoCal’s greatest attractions – including hikes in the Santa Monica Mountains, surfing in Malibu and Ventura, dining in Westlake Village, and listening to live music on the famed Sunset Boulevard – amplify its allure.

What to Love

Local Lifestyle

Calabasas is one of the most elegant communities in the Golden State. As such, it draws, in addition to celebrities, well-heeled professionals and their young families, entrepreneurs who want to live near the action of Los Angeles (and are only a short plane ride away from San Francisco), and retirees who enjoy sunny weather and a boatload of ways to lead a healthy, active way of life.

There’s a strong community focus in Calabasas, which is evidenced by its annual events. Residents of this region are often out and about around town, walking the manicured residential streets or relishing brunch outside on a warm Sunday morning.

Dining, Shopping & Entertainment

Southern California is a mecca for fabulous cuisine and shopping, and Calabasas plays a significant part in this. You’ll find plenty to love at The Commons at Calabasas, a luxurious outdoor plaza dotted with lovely boutiques and outstanding restaurants. Coffee houses, a bookstore, a grand theater, a chocolatier, sushi spots, and spas are also found in this European-style center.

The Calabasas Farmers Market is also a draw for residents of this tony hamlet. Held on Saturdays, it offers the freshest produce, flowers, and herbs. You’ll also be able to sample and purchase gourmet treats, artisan baked goods, locally sourced coffee, and more.

For an evening out, locals head to the lively patio at Sagebrush Cantina for sumptuous Mexican fare and irresistible margaritas. Ceviche salad with cilantro and sliced jalapenos, wild-caught mahi mahi tacos, and Suiza enchiladas are just a few of the dishes you’ll find on their spectacular menu.

And when it’s time to buy a new ride, Calabasas Luxury Motorcars offers impeccable service and a fleet of swoon-worthy cars, including Audis, Bentleys, and Lamborghinis.

Things to Do

Calabasas’ dream location gives its residents effortless access to a range of memorable activities – both in Calabasas proper and its neighboring towns, cities, and beaches.

The town itself hosts a variety of unforgettable events throughout the year. The Calabasas Fine Arts Festival, held at The Anza A Calabasas Hotel, features more than 150 artists over the course of a two-day party held in May. Come July, city residents gather for the annual Independence Day fireworks extravaganza at the Calabasas High School stadium.

The Calabasas Film Festival, held in September and featuring indie flicks from around the globe, is also a huge hit for locals and visitors. And October takes on a new glow at the town’s annual Pumpkin Festival at the lovely Juan Bautista de Anza Park. The beloved event, which operates as a celebration of the city’s name, features delightful activities for the whole family, including carnival games and, of course, a pumpkin patch.

The region is also home to two other outstanding summer events: The Calabasas Malibu Food & Wine Festival, a culinary fete celebrated at The Commons at Calabasas, and the Sagebrush Cantina Summer Music Festival, which provides patrons with a string of complimentary concerts. In short: You’ll never be at a loss for things to do in this beautiful community.

Schools

Calabasas is known for its stellar schools – and it’s a huge part of its appeal to families with children and real estate investors. A few of the top schools in the city include:
